Small Groups
At First United Methodist Church of Sherman, we have a variety of small groups that meet throughout the year. We have groups that golf, cook, garden, knit, grill, meet for fellowship, and meet to deepen their spiritual journey. Below, you will find a list of some of the small groups that we have. Most of our small groups meet for a certain amount of time, so please check the church calendar to see if it is meeting.
FUMC Golf League
The Golf League meets for 8 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the spring. The group is open to any golfer who wants to play. We have golfers of all skill levels, so don't worry about how good you are. The cost is $15 per week, and we meet out at Stone Creek Golf Course at 5:00 p.m.
Cooking Class
The cooking class meets for several weeks every fall and spring. They meet at various homes, and they have a chef teach and prepare a meal for everyone who comes. The cooking class requires signing up in the church office, and there is a monetary cost to cover your meal.
Knitting Group
The knitting group is a group of ladies that meet at the home of Dorothy McKee to sit down, chat, and knit on something. Please contact Dorothy McKee for information about this group.
Gardening
The gardening small group is a group led by our very own master gardeners. They teach how to grow and take care of all kinds of plants. They also have a "lab" which is taking care of our prayer garden.
King of the Grill
Every Saturday in June there is a group that meets to see, "Who is the King of the Grill." Please check our calendar for meeting times and locations.
Great People
Great People is a group of older adults who meet on the 2nd Friday of each month for fellowship and a pot-luck luncheon. They meet in Binkley hall at noon. Each meeting there is a program after lunch.
United Methodist Women
The United Methodist Women are a group of intergeneration women who meet in several different groups to study God's word, grow in their faith, and respond to God's word through missions and other ministries. Please contact the church for more information about UMW Circles.
